TPA / TKDA Bappenas

TPA Bappenas is a type of academic potential test (TPA) developed by the Autonomous Test Organizing Business Unit (UUO PT) of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

The results of the Bappenas TPA are used by various educational institutions and companies as an entrance selection standard. This test is often also called TPA OTO Bappenas.

The Bappenas TPA is now not only used for Master's and Doctoral scholarships abroad. The following are examples of entrance selections that use the Bappenas TPA:

1. Master's and Doctoral programs at domestic public and private universities
2. Recruitment of new employees
3. Position transfers and promotions in ministerial/non-ministerial institutions at the central and regional levels, as well as in state-owned and region-owned enterprises (BUMN/BUMD)
4. Transfers and promotions in private companies

The Bappenas Employee Cooperative provides a special unit that administers the TPA and several other tests, namely the Autonomous Test Organizing Business Unit (UUO PT).

This unit provides the question booklets, answer sheets, proctors, score assessment, and score submission. However, the passing score threshold is determined by the institution that organizes the test.

Test Format and Materials

1. Duration and Number of Questions:

The test lasts for 3 hours (180 minutes) with a total of approximately 150 to 250 questions (an average of 40 seconds per question).

2. Main Subtests:

 - Verbal (synonyms, antonyms, analogies, reading comprehension)

 - Quantitative / Numerical (arithmetic, ratios, percentages, number series, word problems)

 - Reasoning (syllogisms, analytical reasoning, up to logical/figural reasoning)

3. Scoring System: The score range is on a scale of 200 – 800 (the score per subtest ranges from 20–80 or a standard conversion). There is no point deduction (negative marking) for incorrect answers.

- Certificate Validity: Valid for 2 years from the date of issue and cannot be extended.
